I study the interactions of volcanoes and the lithosphere on terrestrial planets, using satellite imagery, geophysical, geologic and geodetic data. I use numerical and analytic approaches in the analysis of volcano-tectonic deformation, focusing on magma source dynamics, crustal stress evolution and strain patterns. I also study plate boundary zones and the rigidity of intraplate regions on Earth. Ultimately, the goal of our research is to understand the origin and development of volcanic cones, calderas, coronae, tesserae, craters and other similar structures found on Venus, Mars, Earth, and the Moon.
