My research utilizes structural and photogeologic analyses to determine geologic histories of planetary bodies. Previously, my research focused mainly on Mars; I have studied the deformational history of the Thaumasia Highlands in southern Tharsis, used Mars Exploration Rover images to determine physical properties of the Burns Formation in Meridiani Planum, and used faults to calculate the magnitude of radius change for Mars as a test of the hypothesis of global contraction. As part of the NLSI Center for Lunar Science and Exploration at LPI, I am applying these techniques in order to understand the formation and deformation of Orientale Basin, the youngest and best-preserved multi-ringed impact basin on the Moon. My research will be used to gain insight into the involvement of faults during the formation of large-scale impact basins on the Moon and elsewhere in the solar system.
