Lunar Sample 15260

MissionApollo 15
Lithologysoil
LocationCollected from the bottom of a trench dug into the south rim of a 12 meter diameter crater 10-15 meters downslope from the LRV at Station 6.
DescriptionRock sample 15012 and soil 15260 were collected from the bottom of a trench dug into the south rim of a 12 meter diameter crater 10-15 meters downslope from the LRV at Station 6. Sample 15012 was also collected at the bottom of this trench and placed in a Special Environmental Sample Container. The surface where the trench was dug is littered with fragments ranging from .5 - 2 cm size, but distinctly fewer than on the north rim of the same crater. This may have prompted the astronaut's remarks that the south rim was softer and the north rim more granular.
