More About Using the
Education Resources Catalog

How To Use This List

The catalog is divided into two parts. The first part is a list of sources with contact information arranged in alphabetical order. The second part is a listing of specific items of interest grouped in broad categories by type of material. Each item on this second list includes a short description and (if available) a link to additional information about the item. This is followed by a source code that refers to the source for the item. For those items with a single source, contact information is supplied either in the catalog's source file or by a link (if available) directly to the source.

Items With Multiple Sources

Many of the items in the catalog are available from various sources, either locally or on the Web. These more generally available items are indicated by "Source = Multiple" at the end of the entry. In this case, potential buyers will probably want to check with their favorite vendor of educational materials, other local sources, or the Internet before making their purchase. Using a local source may allow the buyer to get a closer look at the item or perhaps try it out first. Some websites even offer demos of computer-related products.

Some Shopping Suggestions

Prices can vary widely, so it pays to shop around for the best deal. Even if you would rather not purchase something through the Web, using it can be valuable. It can provide you with the names of sources in your area that carry the item and who has the best price. You might also find reviews of the item that will help you make your decision. Finally, as noted above, you might find a demo or some sort of "walk-through" of the material. To go shopping on the World Wide Web, just go to your favorite search engine and enter the title of the item. Use the advanced search options to narrow the search using the material type, such as "videotape," or the type of information you want, such as "review."
