There have been many separate landslides from the walls of Gangis Chasma onto its floor. This area is probably part of the debris apron from an older landslide than came from the right (west). There is one small impact crater on this apron. This apron has been over-ridden by the ridged debris apron that originated in the landslide on the Gangis Chasma wall just left (east) of the large impact crater.
