Mars Millennium is a national arts, science, and technology initiative currently being piloted in Houston-area schools, libraries, and youth and arts centers. It encourages students to design a community for 100 people arriving on Mars in the year 2030. The goal for each Mars Millennium team is to design a livable and life-sustaining community on Mars that is culturally and artistically rich. The project is sponsored by NASA, the Department of Education, the National Endowment for the Arts, the J. Paul Getty Trust, and a host of public and private organizations.

The Lunar and Planetary Institute supported the Houston pilot effort as a resource provider in Mars science content and Mars imagery. We are making available materials at cost, as well as resources, speakers, workshops, and coordinating mentors for the pilot sites. Our 3-D Mars imagery is available here, along with Earth/Mars comparison imagery (some in 3-D), a lesson on how to make your own 3-D glasses, the NASA Educational Brief on Mars, links to Mars activity sites, and a selection of the best Mars exploration resources on line.
