What do you think created these features?

Vertical Aerial View of Chamis Prairie.
There are over 30 of these large mounds that seem to run parallel to each other.

These mounds, are as high as 35 feet and have a wavelength (crest to crest) of 300 feet.

What are some of the characteristics of the materials that make-up these mounds?

Explain how these mounds were formed.

Wave mounds were formed through the erosive activity of fast flowing water. This action eroded the previous layers found at the bottom of a lake (Glacial Lake Missoula). The mounds and troughs (low point between two mounds) were eroded from the lake material perpendicular to the flow of the torrents of flood water.

Possible Connection to Mars
Could these Martian structures have been formed by similar Earth-like processes?
