Solar Eclipse Visual and Literary Art Competition

May 16, 2017
Art competition

The Lunar and Planetary Institute and Sci Art Exchange announce an art competition to celebrate the upcoming total solar eclipse on August 21, 2017. Not since 1918 has the thin path of totality created during the eclipse run across the continental United States from the Pacific to the Atlantic.

Do you love science and have a creative side? Create art about the science behind a solar eclipse or how eclipses impact humanity. All Houston-area artists, young and old, are invited to submit original visual or literary artwork by August 1, 2017.

Winners will be selected from multiple age groups: 5-9, 10-13, 14-18, and adult. Winning artwork will be displayed at the Freeman Public Library, Levy Park, and the Lunar and Planetary Institute and will be featured during the Eclipse Over Houston festivities.
