NASA is continually producing a variety of publications for the
educational community. Contact the Teacher Resource Center at the NASA field
center serving your area to find out what is currently available. Also
check Spacelink. Ask about the following:
- Teaching Resource Guides
Each guide covers a particular topic and is targeted to specific
grade levels. They include classroom activities and a section on
classroom resources.
- Video Resource Guides
Each guide consists of a videotape and a resources guide for a
specific topic.
- Educational Briefs
Provide classroom-oriented material concerning NASA current
activities and missions. Each brief first discusses the topic followed
by suggested activities and a list of other publications on the
topic.
- EP Series
Short publications on specific topics (often a mission) usually
something very current--a "hot topic." Lots of color photos and fairly
extensive text.
- NASA Facts
Designed to explain certain discipline areas by connecting space
science concepts with those taught in the classroom.
- Pamphlets
Usually single sheets on a specific topic. Often folded because
they are oversized, with posterlike image on one side and factual or
descriptive information on the other side.
- Lithographs
8 × 10-inch photographs with descriptive text and suggestions for
classroom activities on the back.
- Wallsheets
Large, full color, appropriate for displaying in the classroom.
Some include descriptive text and/or information on related subjects.
AESP Aerospace Education Services Program
- Traveling education units that bring the aerospace program to the
schools. Programs can be classroom-sized to assembly-sized and can be
customized to meet a school's curricula needs. In-service workshops are
also available to familiarize teachers with the program and to help
identify specific areas of interest. Contact the Center Eductional
Programs Officer at the NASA field center serving your area.
