Regional Planetary Image Facility

One of NASA’s 16 international facilities, the Lunar and Planetary Institute’s Regional Planetary Image Facility (RPIF) provides access to planetary images and maps for use by the scientific and educational communities and houses imagery and cartographic products from missions such as Apollo, Clementine, Galileo, Viking, Voyager and Mars Global Surveyor.

Planetary imagery is available in a variety of formats, including negatives, prints, positive transparencies, video, and digital disks. The collection also includes press release images, lunar sample images, slide sets, photo atlases, and globes.

The RPIF at LPI has a variety of equipment that is available to qualified users such as light tables, copy stand, copier and scanners.  Temporary workspace and meeting tales are available for users. The reference staff can assist with using the collection, equipment, and with identifying and obtaining materials.
