United States Naval Observatory Online Resources


The United States Naval Observatory (USNO) provides a wide range of astronomical data and products, and serves as the official source of time for the United States Department of Defense and a standard of time for the entire country. The USNO provides a number of online data services (daily Sun and Moon data, dates of primary phases of the Moon, etc.) and astronomical reference material and publications.

Fall Session NASA Internship Application Deadline May 31


Applications are being accepted now for 2015 fall session NASA internships. NASA internships are educational hands-on opportunities that provide unique NASA-related research and operational experiences for high school, undergraduate, graduate students, and educators. Internships can be full or part-time, conducted at a NASA facility, contractor facility, or anywhere activities are ongoing to advance NASA’s missions. Mentors can be civil servants, contractors, or faculty conducting activities directly related to NASA’s unique assets and ongoing mission activities. The deadline to apply is May 31.

Happy Earth Day!


Today, April 22, is Earth Day. First celebrated in 1970, the event is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network. Their year-round mission is to “broaden, diversify and activate the environmental movement worldwide, through a combination of education, public policy, and consumer campaigns.” Find out more online.
