Susanne received her diploma in Mineralogy from the University of Mainz, Germany. She was a co-organizer of the Workshop on Modeling Martian Hydrous Environments, June 1–3, 2009 at the LPI in Houston, TX. She conducts research on:  (1) excess argon in un-deformed and deformed magmatic rocks using ultra-high resolution 40Ar/39Ar laser probe analysis, (2) impact-generated hydrothermal systems both on Mars and Earth with special emphasis on the minerals formed; modeling mineral reactions in these systems and comparing the results to data available from spacecraft missions and terrestrial studies, (3) Martian meteorites (noble gases, especially changes in their signatures due to processes acting on the rocks after their formation on Mars and the meteorites after their launch from Mars), and (4) terrestrial analog and laboratory studies on changes in the noble gas budget due to weathering and impact processes.
