My research goals aim to utilize U-Pb chronology to examine the magmatic and thermal history of planetary bodies and the formation and evolution of the continental crust. The research avenues I pursue are: 1) U-Pb geochronology of detrital zircon in sedimentary basins to constrain timing of sedimentation and sediment provenance, 2) U-Pb geochronology of mafic dykes to constrain the timing and evolution of large igneous provinces and their relationship to supercontinent rifting and paleogeography and 3) U-Pb chronology of zircon, baddeleyite, and apatite in planetary materials to assess the timing and thermal evolution of planetary bodies. Within these research topics I am particularly interested in developing and applying new analytical methods for the in situ dating of accessory minerals found within planetary and terrestrial materials.
