Lunar Sample 72460

MissionApollo 17
Lithologysoil
LocationCollected at Station 2, near the base of South Massif
Description72460 was collected at Station 2, near the base of South Massif. It was a skim sample which was collected from under a .7 meter breccia boulder which was rolled over by the crew. 72440 was from the upper 4 cm of the soil, and 72460 was a skim sample. The area was too disturbed after rolling the boulder over to compare well with the undisturbed fines, but generally it appears similar. The sample area is a strewn boulder field with loose fines.
