CHANGE IN DATES

Note that the dates for the workshop have changed. The Near-Earth Asteroid Sample Return Workshop will be held Monday and Tuesday ONLY, December 11–12, 2000. The workshop will be held at the Lunar and Planetary Institute, which is housed in the Center for Advanced Space Studies, 3600 Bay Area Boulevard, Houston, Texas.

The preliminary program and abstracts are now available on line. Remember that there will not be a special author notification mailing. Authors of invited and contributed abstracts should refer to the program to see when their talk has been scheduled.

INFORMATION FOR SPEAKERS

Invited review talks are to be 20 minutes plus 10 minutes for discussion and contributed talks will be 10 minutes plus 5 minutes for discussion. Two 35-mm slide projectors and two overhead projectors, a single LCD projector with a document camera, and a VCR player and monitor will be available to support the presentations. Requirements for any additional audio-visual equipment should be made to the LPI at least two weeks before the meeting. Speakers should keep in mind the scope and purpose of the meeting and the multidisciplinary nature of the audience.

REGISTRATION

Preregistration

A fee of $70 ($50 for students) will be assessed each participant to cover various workshop services. You must preregister and prepay by November 10, 2000, to avoid the $20 late fee. Foreign participants who state on the registration form that they have a currency exchange problem may pay in cash at the meeting and avoid the $20 late fee if they return the form by November 10, 2000. A downloadable preregistration form is provided. Registrants paying by credit card may use the electronic registration form. Requests for cancellation and a refunded fee will be accepted through December 1, 2000.

Note:   Those who fail to attend and do not notify the LPI Publications and Program Services Department prior to the December 1, 2000, deadline will forfeit their full fee.

On-Site Registration

Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Monday morning. A continental breakfast will be served during the 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. registration period prior to the start of the first session. Registration will continue to be available for the remainder of the day until 5:00 p.m. On Tuesday registration will be available from 8:00 to 5:00 p.m.

HOTEL RESERVATIONS

You are responsible for making your own hotel reservations. For your convenience, a list of local hotels and a map of the area (including the location of the LPI and hotels) are provided.

PARKING SPACE SHORTAGE AT LPI

In the event that this meeting is oversubscribed we anticipate an overflow of legal parking spaces at or near the LPI. We encourage you to contact your colleagues staying at the same hotel or nearby to arrange for car pooling.

MESSAGES

Participants may receive messages during the workshop by telephone at 281-244-2083 or by fax at 281-486-2160. Sessions will not be interrupted to deliver messages except in the event of an emergency. Messages will be posted on a board near the registration and staff desk located in the Great Room just outside the Lecture Hall.
