The molecular line parameters for methane are being revised for
the 2 to 10
m region. New developments in the application
of quantum mechanical models now permit very complex spectral
regions to be interpreted successfully. New calculations of
line parameters are being done to create a database of over
200,000 vibration-rotation lines of methane arising from the
ground state and from difference bands. The line intensities vary
through seven orders of magnitude. In addition, the transitions
of deuterated methane are being studied for the 3 to 9
m region.
