PURPOSE AND SCOPE | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
The conference will review the state of knowledge of, and opportunities for science:
Sessions will be structured to report on recent results and anticipate future opportunities for lunar science. Papers on elements of education and public outreach will be included to better understand how lunar exploration can be used to stimulate public interest in space exploration and improve science literacy. |

MEETING FORMAT | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
The thee-day workshop will consist of invited and contributed oral and poster presentations, together with one or more “town hall” plenary meetings to plan for the future of lunar science. All sessions will be scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (with lunch to be provided on site). The session summaries, along with the abstracts, list of organizers, and participants, will be included in a final report to be posted on the NASA Lunar Science Institute website. |

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
Interested members of the community are encouraged to submit abstracts addressing topics that are pertinent to this meeting. Abstracts may not exceed two pages, including graphics, tables, and references. File sizes are restricted to 1.5 MB. Contributors are specifically encouraged to address the following questions:
All abstracts, whether invited or contributed, must be submitted electronically to the Lunar and Planetary Institute via the electronic submission form by 5:00 p.m. U.S. Central Daylight Time (see timezone map) on Tuesday, April 29, 2008. Templates and detailed instructions for formatting and submitting your abstract are provided. The abstracts and agenda in PDF format will be available in electronic format and accessible via the meeting website on June 17, 2008. Author notification letters will not be mailed, so authors should check the online program to find out where their abstract has been scheduled. |

REGISTRATION | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
There will be no registration fee associated with this workshop. However, participants are asked to register in advance using the electronic registration form provided so that the meeting organizers will have an accurate headcount for planning purposes. The registration deadline is June 24, 2008. After that date, participants will have to register on site. Please read carefully the security clearance requirements below regarding access to the NASA Research Park. |

SECURITY CLEARANCE | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
All conference attendees will need to present a valid government-issued photo identification document (e.g., NASA badge for NASA employees and contractors, U.S. driver's license for U.S. citizens and permanent residents of the United States, passport for all others) at the main entrance gate of the NASA Research Park in order to be admitted to the Research Park and the NASA Ames Conference Center. Attendees who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States MUST REGISTER by June 1, 2008, so that there will be sufficient time to obtain the required security clearance for access to the site. |
