Lunar CRater Observation & Sensing Satellite

LCROSS is on its way to the Moon right now, it will help to confirm the potential presence of water ice -- a valuable resource for human exploration -- by smashing the upper stage of the rocket into a permanently shadowed crater at the Moon's south pole.

Chandrayaan-1

India's spacecraft is orbiting the Moon, characterizing the lunar surface and composition. The mission includes two NASA instruments.
