It took a long trip — three days — in a cramped vehicle to get to the Moon. Astronauts (from left to right) Armstrong, Collins, and Aldrin performed pre-flight checks.

The cone-shaped command module was only about 10.5 feet (3.2 meters) tall and nearly 13 feet (3.9 meters) wide at its base.
