Description: A painting of a five-day old moon. Seeing the moon in the waxing crescent phase has never failed to inspire me. As plain and simple as it is, it is an element of beauty superimposed on a wonderful black canvas of the sky.

Description: A poem about the moon that I submitted to the Astropoetry Blog of the Astronomers Without Borders.
Here, I illustrate the different characteristics and phenomenon related to the moon and also how some people have perceived them in particular situations like an eclipse.
I depicted the lunar phases, the reflection of light from the sun, the cratered surface, a lunar and solar eclipse, the pull on the tides and the appearance of lunar halo.

Description: The image features the thin Young Moon and the two inner planets, Venus and Mercury hanging near each other in the western sky during a beautiful celestial grouping at dusk last October 28, 2011.
I was really fortunate to have been able to catch this sky display just before darkness came. Planetary conjunctions with the Moon and the sight of the earthshine have always fascinated me a lot. Seeing such celestial beauty never fails to lighten my mood even after one very tiring day :)

Description: The image features the largest Full Moon of 2011. The Moon was ~14% brighter and bigger at the time of this event. Thin clouds blanketed the lunar disk during the night but this big silvery white orb stood out against the dark sky. Even though man has landed on the moon and has proved his superiority, the moon still continues to be a thing of great fascination for us perhaps because it serves as a silent inspiration to everyone of us to look beyond ourselves and our world despite many dim circumstances.

Description: This poem was inspired by a particularly beautiful and vivid Harvest Moon viewed in twilight just a few degrees above the horizon on a September evening in 1981. I was compelled to continue viewing, during which time I began to sense an apparent intelligence and intent behind the gaze of this incredible Moon. So engaged, a spiritual allegory suggested itself: one informed by elements of orbital mechanics, a theory of lunar formation, lunar phases, and the gravitational effect of the Moon on our Earth.

Description: A marvelous apparition of a blood-colored or deep red Moon stunned a lot of Philippine sky viewers during the Total Lunar Eclipse last June 16, 2011.
I was really happy to have been able to observe this event. Observing a Total Eclipse of the Moon is relatively rare opportunity— not to mention that the duration of totality of this eclipse was one of the longest in 100 years (totality lasted for 100 minutes).

Description: This montage is composed of the images of the Moon during different stages of the Total Lunar Eclipse last June 16, 2011.
I stayed up all-night just to watch this marvelous event. Even though I was so tired and sleepy the following day, I know that my efforts didn’t go fruitless. Seeing the Red Moon was truly a priceless experience.

Description: Last October 22, 2011, a nice celestial pairing of the waning crescent Moon - which looked like a floating golden smile over the light-polluted cityscape - and the tiny planet Mars greeted my view. These two were roughly 8 degrees apart during this conjunction and were located just slightly above “the Sickle” in Leo.

Description: This is an image of an Old Lunar Crescent in the southeastern sky during predawn. Thin Moons and the sight of the earthshine never fail to amaze me. Old Moons are close to the horizon, and thus the Sun, which makes the 6% lit lunar disc quite hard to spot. Despite this challenge, I still wake up early to catch this view. It's one of the best things to start my day.
