The Center for Meteorite Studies (CMS) in the School of Earth and Space Exploration at Arizona State University invites applications for a Research Professor position. Rank will be commensurate with experience and credentials. This is a non-tenure track, benefits-eligible position subject to annual renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the unit. Anticipated start date is November 24, 2014, but a later start date is negotiable.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program that supports the CMS mission of creating and sharing new knowledge in the field of meteoritics and allied sciences. In addition, the successful candidate will also serve as Assistant Director of the CMS.

In this capacity, he/she will assist the CMS director in supporting the mission of the Center by assisting in collections-related activities; coordinating CMS participation in E/PO activities and events; generating and maintaining CMS archives, records, publications, and informational materials (including, but not limited to, website content); overseeing public exhibits involving the CMS collection or educational materials; and assisting with other Center-related activities at the discretion of the director.

Seventy-five percent (75%) of this position is funded by the Center for Meteorite Studies. It is expected that the additional 25% will come from extramural sources secured by the successful candidate. A Ph.D. in a physical science discipline is required by the time of appointment and preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated record of research productivity in meteoritics or closely Related fields.
