Job Opportunity: Lecturer in Theoretical Plasma Physics and / or Space Science

The Space-Plasma-Climate (SPC) section is a newly-formed unit within the Department of Physics and draws together 29 academic staff from the Plasma, Space and Atmospheric and Astrophysics research groups. It has a diverse range of research interests including: high density plasmas; inertial confinement fusion; exoplanets and planet formation; MHD plasma modelling; fundamental plasma processes such as reconnection, turbulence and shocks; planetary plasma physics; experimental laboratory astrophysics, space instrumentation; and magnetic confinement fusion. Some significant and relevant roles within the section include: the MAGPIE Z-pinch experiment; the Institute for Shock Physics; major collaborations with AWE and LLNL; PI of the magnetometer investigation on the Solar Orbiter mission (launch 2018); and PI of the magnetometer investigation of the JUICE mission (launch 2022).
