Roter Kamm, Namibia

15. Roter Kamm, Namibia

In this shuttle view, the narrow, extremely circular rim of the crater serves as a prominent landmark in the southern Namib Desert. The mountains to the east of the crater are the Auris-Berge. The reddish reflection of the low Sun on the desert sand illustrates the reason for the name of the structure (“rot” is German for “red”).
