Southern Red Sea Reefs

35. Southern Red Sea Reefs

The tip of Deblak Kebir Island off the Asmaran coast of Ethiopia can be seen at the top of this frame. To the west of the island are numerous reefs and reef-surrounded islands in the warm, shallow waters of the Red Sea. Notice the color differentiation from the aquamarine of the shallow reef lagoons to the dark blue of surrounding, deeper water. Each individual reef pictured here is about 3.5 kilometers in diameter.
