Tharsis Graben

8. Tharsis Graben (38°N,105°W)

This image shows many small graben in Tharsis in the area north of the volcanos shown in slide #4. Such graben are produced when the crust is extended or stretched by forces inside the planet (see Fig. 2a). This image is 240 kilometers across.
