18. Dune Field

The fingerprint appearance of this image is caused by the presence of a massive dune field centered at 67.7°N, 90.5°E. The dune spacing is roughly 0.5 kilometers. The radar bright streaks are probably associated with low hills and indicate wind direction. Only one other location (near the crater Aglaonice) has been identified as an extensive dune field, and, overall, loose sediment is very uncommon on Venus.
