Alta Regio SAR, Topography, and Gravity

The imagery, topography, and free-air gravity data for Atla Regio (2°N, 196°E) are all combined in this image. The nearly 12 kilometers of topographic variation are displayed in color with violets as lows ranging to reds at maximum elevation. SAR imagery is used to modulate the intensity, and the free-air gravity data is contoured at 50-milligal intervals. The apparent offset between topography and gravity may be an artifact of the low resolution of the spherical harmonic gravity model, which has a resolution of only a few hundred kilometers.
