States in Corona Evolution

This area, 945 × 945 kilometers and centered at 29.8°S, 274.3°E, contains three features along a rift zone that may illustrate the evolutionary sequence of corona structures. With the rise of a hot magma body a few hundred kilometers across in the mantle, the surface domes and cracks in a radial fashion (profile A-A'). As the domed structure begins to collapse, concentric faults and a surrounding trough begin to form (profile B-B'). When collapse is complete, there is typically a central plateau with a raised annulus surrounded by a circular trough (profile C-C', Gertjon Corona).
