3. Regional Dust Storms

Martian dust storms may grow large enough to cover whole regions of the planet. Shown is a regional dust storm in Thaumasia that later developed into a global dust storm. Note the curvature of the limb for scale. The bright lines parallel to the limb (arrows) might be reflected light from dust or condensates high in the martian atmosphere.
