The announcement of opportunity for the 2009 Mars rover is planned for the fall 2003, with reviewers needed in the spring 2004. Discussion will focus on what field studies are needed to improve the background for reviewers of probable instruments. For example, to review proposed requirements related to photometric compensation and atmospheric compensation techniques, uncertainties, and detection limits.
