Dr. Harrison H. Schmitt Apollo 17 event

Join Apollo 17 astronaut Dr. Harrison Schmitt and Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI) staff for two events looking back on 45 years since Apollo 17. These events are free and open to all interested persons. Online registration is required for Dr. Schmitt’s 7:30 p.m. presentation. Please see below for more information.

4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

  • Take a guided tour of the collections in LPI’s library
  • Learn about the Moon through hands-on activities
  • Speak with lunar scientists, including Apollo 17 astronaut Harrison Schmitt*


(LPI will be closed from 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. to prepare for the evening event.

7:30 p.m.

A Voyage to the Moon and Its Major Discoveries, a presentation by Dr. Harrison H. Schmitt. Registration for the December 2, 2017 presentation is full, however the presentation will be streamed live on the USRA Ustream channel. If you still wish to attend in person, please arrive at LPI before 7:15 p.m. You may be granted admission if seats are available at that time.
