Exploring Gangis Chasma
Gangis Chasma is part of the great Valles Marineris canyon system, which stretches 4000 kilometers east to west and 600 kilometers north to south. The huge volcanoes on the Tharsis plateau, visible at the far left of this image, are just west of the Valles Marineris. We'll explore part of a single image of the south-eastern wall of Gangis Chasma, at the point of the arrow.
