LPI Scientists Featured in New Series About the Moon

The Moon 101 series has recently been remade for a new generation of lunar explorers by The Aerospace Corporation. The 12-episode video collection provides a snapshot of the most important and exciting discoveries about our Moon. The concept originated from the Moon 101 Lecture Series developed by the late Dr. Paul Spudis at the Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI).

The Moon 101 series features interviews with Apollo-era scientists and engineers telling their stories about how they reached the Moon and lessons learned. In this curriculum, some of the world's leading lunar experts, including LPI’s Drs. Julie Stopar and Walter Kiefer, discuss various aspects of the Moon.

In episode 9, Walter Kiefer discusses what we know about the lunar interior, what we learned from the Apollo Missions, and how we can use this information to explore today. In episode 12, Julie Stopar helps us understand the Moon’s makeup and how it will drive exploration goals and future needs.

The episodes were released on YouTube in November 2020.
