LPI Presents Sky Fest: The InSight Mission to Mars

The Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI) presents “The InSight Mission to Mars” on Saturday, May 5, 2018, from 8:00–10:00 p.m. at the LPI. Explorers of all ages are welcome. The theme for the event is NASA’s InSight mission which is scheduled to launch early on the morning of May 5th from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

The LPI partners with the NASA Johnson Space Center Astronomy Society to engage families in Sky Fest, a celebration of celestial events and NASA mission milestones. Sky Fest is open to all ages and includes presentations from scientists, hands-on activities, and night sky viewing through telescopes (weather permitting).

Activities will include:

  • Edible Mars Models
  • Portable Planetarium Shows
  • Scientist Presentations
  • Night sky viewing through telescopes (weather permitting)

The LPI is located at Universities Space Research Association, 3600 Bay Area Boulevard, Houston, TX 77058. A map of the region and the building location is available for download.
