July 23, 2019

Premiering July 24th at 9 p.m. EDT / 8 p.m. CDT, PBS explores the vast and varied beauty of our solar system in a five-part series, “The Planets”. Episodes will focus on inner worlds, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and ice worlds, using special effects and footage from orbiters and landers to provide a rare view to our celestial neighbors. The series features LPI staff scientist Dr. Edgard Rivera-Valentín, whose research projects have spanned the solar system, from Mercury to the icy moons of Saturn. Rivera-Valentín’s projects include the NASA Habitable Worlds Program, the NASA Cassini Data Analysis Program, and the Arecibo Observatory Planetary Radar Program.
