Back to the Moon with VEEPS: A Special Family-Friendly Virtual Event
August 19, 2021
The Lunar and Planetary Institute provides the opportunity to connect with planetary scientists from home. Virtual Exploration Experiences with Planetary Scientists (VEEPS) are 30-minute online sessions that include a scientist’s presentation, a demonstration related to the topic, and some time for questions and discussion with the scientist.
Did you know that humans haven’t been to the Moon since the Apollo 17 mission in 1972? That was almost 50 years ago! Now, with the establishment of the Artemis Program, NASA has its sights set back on crewed missions to the Moon. Join us on August 25 for a special edition of VEEPS; Dr. Sarah Noble (NASA) will teach us about the Moon, we’ll explore NASA’s plans for the future, and we’ll play an interactive virtual boardgame!
Dr. Sarah K. Noble is a planetary geologist and a program scientist at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Her area of expertise is space weathering processes. She is the Program Scientist for NASA's Psyche, VIPER, and Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter missions, and is helping NASA maximize the science humans will do when we return to the Moon through the Artemis program.
