Observe the Moon Night

The Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI), in partnership with NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) Astromaterials Research and Exploration Science Division and Space Center Houston, will host an International Observe the Moon (InOMN) public event from 7:00–9:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018 where visitors of all ages can learn about lunar science and exploration.

Houstonians have the opportunity to join the world-wide celebration of the Moon at Space Center Houston. There will be hands-on educational activities for children, short presentations for the entire family led by LPI and JSC scientists, and night sky viewing — weather permitting.

  • All ages welcome
  • Learn about the Moon through hands-on activities
  • Speak with lunar scientists about our fascinating Moon
  • View the Moon through telescopes (weather permitting)

Since 2010, a global network of lunar enthusiasts has come together for one day to celebrate InOMN. This annual, worldwide public event promotes solar system science and exploration, specifically, NASA’s modern exploration of the Moon. More information on InOMN is available at

Space Center Houston is located next to NASA’s Johnson Space Center at 1601 Nasa Parkway, Houston, TX 77058. Free parking is available in the Space Center Houston parking lot.
