Center for Lunar Science and Exploration Announces 2013 Intern Class

The Center for Lunar Science and Exploration of the Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI) and NASA Johnson Space Center is pleased to announce the 2013 class of Lunar Exploration Summer Interns. The program provides students with an opportunity to be involved in lunar exploration activities, thus effectively training a new generation of space exploration leaders. This summer, students will generate a detailed assessment of one or two high-priority landing sites identified in the report A Global Lunar Landing Site Study to Provide the Scientific Context for Exploration of the Moon. Their research will utilize the latest lunar data (e.g., M3, LOLA, LROC), explore potential traverse routes and stations, and identify hurdles that mission architects will need to address.
The 10-week program runs May 28 through August 2, 2013. Applications were accepted from graduate students in geology, planetary science, and related programs, as well as undergraduates with at least 50 semester hours of credit in those fields.
The Lunar Exploration Summer Intern Program is supported with funding from the LPI and the NASA Lunar Science Institute at NASA Ames Research Center.
