Copyright Policy

General Information
In accordance with the Fair Use doctrine of the U.S. Copyright Office, material on this website may be copied without restraint for library, abstract service, education, or personal research purposes; however, republication of any material requires the written permission of the authors as well as the appropriate acknowledgment of the source.

Reuse of the material on this website (as long as it is not copyrighted by someone else) can be used for educational or non-commercial purposes without requesting permission, provided acknowledgment is given to the source.

Meeting Abstracts
Copyright for LPI meeting abstracts remains with the authors, who agree to allow USRA/LPI permission to publish the work in any and all materials associated with the meeting. To reuse material from a meeting abstract, you must obtain permission from one of the authors, not the LPI.

NASA Images
Images found on this website that are clearly from NASA (Apollo imagery, Lunar Orbiter imagery, etc.) are in the public domain. However, they have often been processed and/or labeled by the LPI, either alone or with a partnering organization. It is therefore considered courteous to acknowledge both the creator of the image and the source (e.g., “Credit:  NASA/Lunar and Planetary Institute”). If other acknowledgments or credits are required, they will appear on the webpage either as a separate credits section or in the caption that accompanies the image.

Other Requests
Permission requests or questions related to the use of material other than that defined above may be sent to RenĂ©e Dotson, Library and Publications Manager, at [email protected].
