A Concept Map of Astronomy Education

E. E. Roettger (Consultant)

Concept maps are used to organize knowledge when a hierarchical organization is inappropriate. They show concepts and their relation to each other. Astronomy education is definitely not hierarchical, and can be represented by a concept map showing the key ideas and participants and the relationships among them. Such a map will be presented as a resource for those involved in astronomy education and wishing to improve their work, increase its distribution or use, or find others doing similar work. The concept map can also be used to introduce the seemingly endless components and fields of expertise that go into science education in general and planetary science education in particular.
