INFORMATION FOR PRESENTERS
We had an outstanding response to the call for abstracts, receiving almost 400 abstracts by the submission deadline. While we tried to accommodate all possible concepts, the workshop venue is limited, and we were only able to accommodate about half of the submissions, working to ensure that every concept will have a voice at the meeting. One important thing for presenters to remember is that this meeting is about concepts and ideas for near-term and longer term Mars exploration (including leading up to human visits). It is not about selling a particular instrument or architecture in detail.
While much of the meeting will involve presentations of concepts for Mars exploration, a major part of the meeting involves the integration of the ideas and concepts into a framework of future exploration. As such we have allocated a major amount of time to panel-led discussions, which will follow each series of presentations. Because such discussion is only really possible when all participants are together in the same environment (the meeting room), we will not allow presentations to be made from a remote location. Presenters must be physically present at the LPI.
Additional details:
- No changes will be made to the agenda to accommodate speakers’ travel requests. All speakers should anticipate being present for the entire meeting to fully participate in the planning process.
- Presenters will only have 10 minutes to present their concept and ideas. All discussion and Q&A will be held at the end of the session.
- Because of the very tight timeframe, presenters should be encouraged to bring their electronic presentations on a flash drive (as opposed to using their own laptop). There will not be a speaker-ready room. LCD projectors will be provided. The laptops in the breakout rooms will be equipped with the following minimum hardware and software:
- Presenters should be aware that their presentations will be broadcast via Livestream.
- Attendance at the workshop implicitly gives us permission to take pictures, etc., and post them on the meeting website or use them in other related media at our discretion.
