DISCOVERY OF THE FILLMORE, SASKATCHEWAN, IRON METEORITE Name: FILLMORE Place of find: Fillmore, Saskatchewan, Canada. 52° 2.8'N, 107° 14'W. Date of find: About 1916, recognized 1968. Class and type: Iron. Octahedrite. Number of individual specimens: 1 Total weight: 113 g Circumstances of find: Possibly found near Fillmore, the specimen was acquired there by a school teacher. In 1968 it was brought to Dr. W. F. Slawson, University of British Columbia and identified at the Geological Survey of Canada. Source: Dr. J. A. V. Writeup from MB 100: Fillmore 49°53'N, 103°36'W Saskatchewan, Canada Found: 1916 Classification: Iron meteorite Correction: The correct find location of the Fillmore meteorite is that of the town of Fillmore, 49°53’N, 103°36’W. The location of the Kinley meteorite was incorrectly ascribed to that of the Fillmore meteorite in Meteoritical Bulletin no. 50 (page 118). The correct location was recorded by J.A.V. Douglas and W.F. Slawson, as verified from the records of the National Meteorite Collection, Ottawa, Canada by R.K. Herd. | ||||||||||||||||
