Achondrite (ureilite)

This 6 g stone is a rounded, partially crusted, stony fragment. Classification (L. Folco, MNA-SI): it has a typical texture for ureilites and an average grain size of 1.5 mm. It is composed of olivine and pigeonite with homogeneous core compositions (Fa10 and Fs10). It is devoid of evidence for shock metamorphism (S1). The degree of terrestrial weathering is low.  The meteorite is petrographically distinct from previously classified Frontier Mountain ureilites. Main mass, type specimen and thin section at MNA-SI.
