FALL OF HARLETON STONY METEORITE, USA

Name: HARLETON.

The place of fall or discovery:  Harleton, Harrison County, Texas, φ = 32° 40.5' N, λ = 94°30.7'W.

Date of fall or discovery: FALL, May 30, 1961 at 22h30m Central Time.

Class and type: STONY, white chondrite.

Number of individual specimens: 1.

Total weight: 8.36 kg.

Circumstances of the fall or discovery:  This stone was recovered within a few minutes after it fell. It penetrated the sandy soil about 75 cm. The meteorite was obtained within 14 days of its fall and will be part, of the collections of the U. S. National Museum (Washington, USA).
