DISCOVERY OF THE JARALITO, MEXICO, IRON METEORITE

Name: JARALITO

Place of find: Close to Jaralito, Durango, Mexico

26°15'57"N., 103°53'06"W.

Date of find: September, 1977.

Class and type: Iron. Coarse octahedrite (1.9 mm), group IIICD. Ni = 6.52%.

Number of individual

specimens: 1

Total weight: 11.138 kg.

Circumstances of find: Found by A. Acosta while on his way to work in fields. The outer surface is lightly weathered and covered with regmaglypts.
