FALL OF THE JOLOMBA, ANGOLA, STONY METEORITE Name: JOLOMBA Place of fall: Jolomba, Huambo district, Angola 11°51'S., 15°50'E. Date of fall: February 3, 1974 Class and type: Stone. Achondrite, Ca-poor. Diogenite. Number of individual specimens: 1 Total weight 483 g Circumstances of fall: After a thunderous noise, a single stone fell a few metres from a hut. Source: Prof. E. Morais, Departamento de Geologia, Universitade A. Neto, Luanda, Angola; Prof. G.P. Sighinolfi, Instituto di Mineralogia, Universita di Modena, Modena, Italy. Writeup from MB 80: Jolomba Reclassification. This observed fall, reported in Met. Bull. 65 (1987), was originally classified as a diogenite. Sighinolfi et al.
