FALL OF THE KEDIRI, JAVA, STONY METEORITE Name: KEDIRI Place of fall: On the Soemboer Wadoek rubber plantation, about 10 km south of the town of Kediri, eastern Java, Indonesia. 7°45'S,112°01'E (Kediri). Date of fall: Probably 1940. Class and type: Stone. Chondrite. Number of individual specimens: More than 70. Total weight: Not known. Circumstances of fall: Eyewitness accounts relate that a swarm of meteorites, travelling from north to south, fell in the Soemboer Wadoek rubber plantation around 1940; the workers on the estate collected 70 pieces of different sizes.
