Mesosiderite

A 38.69 kg meteorite was found among stones in a fence row. Mineralogy and classification (A. Rubin and J. Wasson, UCLA):  olivine, Fa28; low-Ca pyroxene, Fs21–39Wo1.1–4.4; pigeonite, Fs32–39Wo7–11; plagioclase, Ab7.3Or0.37; subgroup 3 mesosiderite.  Specimens:  Haag and Killgore, split 18 kg; SI, ~7 kg; UCLA, ~5 kg; FMNH, ~4 kg; S. Shumer, ~900 g.
