DISCOVERY OF THE QUARAT AL HANISH, EGYPT, IRON METEORITE Name: QUARAT AL HANISH Place of find: In the Libyan desert, 30 km west of a hill named Quarat al Hanish, the geographically identified feature nearest the find site. 25'9'N., 25-35'E. Date of find: June 25, 1979. Class and type: Iron. Fine octahedrite. Number of individual specimens: 1 Total weight: 593 g. Circumstances of find: Found by Dr. J.R.
