DISCOVERY OF THE SANCLERLANDIA, BRAZIL, IRON METEORITE

Name: SANCLERLANDIA

Place of find: Serra do Mangabal, Sanclerlandia, Goias State, Brazil.

16°30'S., 49°54'W., approx. co-ordinates of Anicuns.

Date of find: October 5, 1971.

Class and type: Iron. Medium octahedrite (1.0 mm). Group IIIA, 7.47% Ni, 18.6 ppm Ga, 36.4 ppm Ge, 7.1 ppm Ir.

Number of individual

specimens: 1

Total weight: 276 kg.

Circumstances of find: Found during the mapping of the 'Serra do Mangabal' ultramafic complex, 500 metres from the road which runs from Sanclerlandia to Anicuns.
